We have all heard the phrase “Cost is King” on a project, and our Cost Engineers are experts in their field. They believe it is essential for all parties with an influence on the cost of a project to be involved in the cost capture and reporting process. This enables early identification of potential increased cost areas, allowing mitigation of their impact in a timely pro-active manner, and production of an accurate Estimate at Completion.

Our approach to delivering a cost management service is one of pro-active collaboration and teamwork.

To generate a culture of communication, collaboration, and openness, we hold regular meetings with the project team, including the suppliers and contractors, which enables the identification and resolution of any commercial matters and tensions early on, and amicably.

All stakeholders are actively encouraged to raise any concerns or issues as they arise, and changes to the scope can be quickly identified and dealt with, rather than wait until later in the project, when the time to influence their outcome has passed. This ensures that we can deal with any issues, mitigate and / or resolve them, quickly and easily, with less impact to the project than would have previously been achieved.

Our Cost Managers have experience of the control, monitoring and reviewing of large complex project budgets, including reporting past performance and predicting future performance.

Typical duties would include:

  • Interface with Project Accountants to understand business reporting requirements.
  • Establishment of appropriate cost reporting formats and documents.
  • Change Control to manage growth.
  • Cost system reconciliations.
  • Accurate forecasting to predict Anticipated Final Cost for the project.
  • Cashflow production including regular updates.
  • Accrual provisions.
  • Regular cost meetings to review total project expenditure, identify areas of concern and mitigating action plans.
  • Outturn cost analysis to allow update on estimating data.
